Networks, wireless & building systems · Halifax, NS
HALICAD designs and installs the physical layer of your network: copper and fibre cabling, comms rooms, Wi-Fi, sound and paging systems, and the infrastructure for access control, cameras and intrusion alarms. Every link is tested, labelled and documented before we hand it over.
Example heat map. We design for −67 dBm or better wherever people use voice and video.
Services
We work for building owners, general contractors, IT teams and consultants, on new builds, fit-outs and upgrades of existing sites in and around Halifax.
Cat6 and Cat6A horizontal cabling for workstations, access points and building systems.
Single-mode and multimode backbone between floors, buildings and telecom rooms.
Telecom rooms built to hold the network for years: racks, cable tray, grounding and tidy patching.
Predictive designs from your floor plans, on-site surveys, and troubleshooting of networks that underperform.
Access points mounted where the design puts them, cabled back to the switch and checked on air.
Wireless bridges between buildings and outdoor coverage for yards, parking and campuses.
The cabling, power and pathways behind access control, video surveillance and intrusion alarms.
Paging, background music and emergency announcements, zoned so each message reaches the right area.
How we work
We fit around your construction schedule or keep disruption low in a working building, with noisy work done after hours when needed.
We review drawings, walk the site and note pathways, ceiling types and RF obstacles.
You get cabling layouts, AP placements, a bill of materials and a fixed quote.
Our crew pulls, terminates and mounts to the design, coordinating with other trades on site.
Every link is certified, the Wi-Fi is validated on site, and you receive the full documentation.
Handover
When the job is done, your IT team or the next contractor can find, trace and trust every cable.
| Standard | What it covers |
|---|---|
| ANSI/TIA-568 | Cabling performance, Cat6/6A and fibre |
| ANSI/TIA-569 | Pathways and telecom spaces |
| ANSI/TIA-606 | Labelling and administration |
| ANSI/TIA-607 | Bonding and grounding |
| IEEE 802.11ax/be | Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7 |
Sectors
A warehouse, a clinic and a hotel each need different cabling densities and wireless designs. We plan for how the space is actually used.
FAQ
Short answers to what building owners, contractors and IT teams ask us most. For anything else, call (902) 233-7442.
Cat6 carries 10 Gb/s only up to about 55 metres. Cat6A carries 10 Gb/s over the full 100-metre channel and handles high-power PoE with less heat build-up, which matters for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points and PoE cameras. For new installations we usually recommend Cat6A.
Yes. For new buildings we run a predictive survey from the floor plans to decide how many access points you need and where they go. In existing buildings an on-site survey measures real walls and interference. After installation, a validation survey confirms the coverage matches the design.
Yes. We price from drawings, schedule our rough-in and finish work around the other trades, and hand over test reports and as-built drawings at the end of the job.
We install the infrastructure behind them: the cabling, power, pathways and mounts for cameras, door hardware, sensors and keypads, ready for the security system to be connected and programmed.
Test reports for every copper and fibre link, as-built drawings showing outlet and access point locations, consistent labels at both ends of every cable, and a Wi-Fi validation survey where wireless is part of the project.
